What is this qualification?
Functional Skills are the essential skills needed for English, Maths and ICT, vital for young people and adults to participate in life, learning and work. Functional Skills feature in most educational and training choices, making you stand out for employers.
You will work with Sussex Functional Skills Centre and undertake an initial assessment to find the most appropriate starting course for your current ability.
This qualification is essential for those without a ICT GCSE or those with a GCSE more than 5 years old (not deemed current).
Prerequisites
You must be aged 16 years or over and Entry Level 1 is for anyone who does not have an entry level qualification in ICT.
How is this course assessed?
Each qualification is assessed through either computer or paper based examinations at the end of the course.
Payment
The course fees are £299.00 per person.

Funding
There a currently two funding options available:
1. If you are 19 years of age or over and claiming benefit you may be eligible to receive the course for free! Click here for details.
2. If you are working in the leisure industry on average 30 hours per week you may be eligible for an apprenticeship. Click here for details.
For English and Maths you can also get the courses for free if you haven't achieved English and/or Maths GCSE Grades A-C, or your existing GCSE is over 5 years old.
